Curtain wall architecture Istanbul
You must have seen the curtain wall façade in the streets, the curtain wall façade is a façade that is generally made of glass and lamellar. The remarkable thing about the curtain wall façade is that its structure is such that it is separate from the building, i.e. it is not like an extra load for the building, and the curtain wall façade is prepared elsewhere and it is brought ready for the building. It should be noted that the curtain wall façade itself is static. The façade of the curtainwall is one of the most popular façades in thefield of building façades.
Façade of the curtain wall
When the building is finished, it is the turn of the façade. The façade of the curtain wall is one of the most widely used types of glass façades. The special beauty of this façade has increased the popularity and demand for this facade. It is interesting to know that many historical periods of the world, including the classical period and the modern period, began with the art of architecture. Therefore, the materials used in architectural buildings have been in accordance with human needs in each period of growth and development. Façade of the curtain wall is an example of building façade material which is made of glass. This façade is made of light materials such as glass and aluminum, it should be noted that the curtain wall is not a component of the building and we can use lightweight materials to save on building costs.
What is the façade of the curtain wall?
The façade of the curtain wall is a view that is often a grid of aluminum and glass frames. It can be said that this façade is one of the dry façades. In fact, it is the external covering of the building that is not considered as a part of the building and the only force that is applied on it is the weight of the façade and the wind pressure of the area. Wind pressure is applied according to weather conditions and building height. One of the advantages of a curtain wall façade is that it separates the climatic position from the building.
Introduction of glass façade and its types
The façade of the curtain wall glass system as a separator with features such as preventing energy loss, preventing sound transmission, preventing rainwater from entering, providing natural light is a beautiful landscape for the urban space. Types of glass façades include face cap system, framed system façade and frameless glass façade. With the advancement of technology in the construction industry and the removal of thick walls and the introduction of steel structures, the limitations of façade design and execution were removed. And it was possible to build a glass façade, which was welcomed by many special architects and designers with the transparency of the building and the uniqueness of the façade.
• Types of FRAMELESS façade of the curtain wall systems
In the frameless model, each of the glass openings has a frame that frames the back of the glass and is held on the lamellar by special aluminum pieces, and only the seam between the glasses will be visible from outside the building. The main feature of the frameless view is that the glass surface can be seen continuously.
1. Curtain wall frameless system: This system is generally known as one of the light and cost-effective systems that is not technically recommended for use in high-rise buildings. And according to the type of glass connection and the amount of load bearing in this system, the dimensions of the modules should be considered as limited and as low as possible.
2. Framed system: This system is known as one of the high-strength and reliable methods in frameless views. And considering that in this system, the glass in the glass factory is connected to the prepared aluminum frames and is installed as ready-made panels at the project site on the modules formed by horizontal and vertical lamps, in terms of acceleration. It also plays an important role in the execution of the façade. It is worth mentioning that in the design of some companies producing aluminum profiles, it is possible to convert any of the modules into a hidden opening only by adding the necessary fittings and there is no need to reproduce these openings.
3. Face cap system: In the curtain wall-lamel façade system with lid, the glass is placed directly on the lamel structure and the retaining caps from the outside of the glass are fixed on the lamel. The EPDM rubbers used in this system completely seal and seal the glass at the joints. It is possible to install various caps with a width of 5 cm and with different lengths and shapes on the lame noses.
